AWR1642BOOST-ODS: What's the difference between "AWR1642BOOST-ODS" and "AWR1642BOOST" boards?

As title, the "AWR1642BOOST-ODS" and "AWR1642BOOST" boards look very similar, just wondering what's the difference between them? are they targeting different applications? Thank you for all the help.

    The AWR1642BOOST and AWR1642BOOST-ODS feature different antenna patterns. The ODS board features single patch antennas with low gain and wide field of view in both azimuth and elevation. The standard BOOST EVM features multi-patch antennas with a wide field of view in azimuth only.

    The only difference between the two boards is the antenna configurations. The ODS board can be used for obstacle detection in automotive applications. You can take a look at this reference lab for more information: dev.ti.com/.../

    I am trying to decide between the AWR1642Boost and the AWR1642Boost-ODS and I came across this question. Can you please clarify the "low gain" properties of the ODS version. Our main interest is to use the sensor to acquire quality data to distinguish between pedestrians and cars or other objects using RCS or other handcrafted features. Does the low gain have a bad implication on this task? Do you have any example of classifying objects using your sensors?

    The information that I can provide on this platform about the AWR1642BOOST-ODS antenna pattern is that is a single patch antenna configuration with low gain and a wide field-of-view.

    If you are looking to place this sensor at a distance of greater than 10 meters away from your target objects to include pedestrians, cars, and the like, I would recommend that you use the AWR1642BOOST.
