IWR1642: Uart separation of radar adn configuration data

Part Number: IWR1642

The Boost boards use the XDS110 as a debug interface (Jtag) and as a dual virtual com port on its USB interface. The two virtual com ports have access to radar data and configuration settings.

Q: How does the XDS110 specify radar data or configuration data from the 1642? It looks like only the single RS232_TX/RX UART in the 1642 is connected to the XDS110.

Hi Charles,

The MSS logger pin (AR_MSS_Logger) is also connected to the XDS110 and that is the Data UART.

To summarize, the RS232 UART is used for configuration bidirectional setup. The MSS_LOGGER_TX is transmit only radar data from the Master System (ARM Core).

The MSS_Logger and the BSS_Logger are wire or'd at pin 25 of the XDS110 chip. Will output from the BSS UART need to be disabled for the MSS to transmit successfully?

What document will have the description of how to setup these diagnostic/subsystem outputs? The data sheet seems a bit vague on details beyond the pin descriptions.

When these are answered I will log the thread completed.

R135 connecting the BSS logger UART to pin 25 of the XDS110 is not placed. The MSS Logger is the only active UART by default.
If you need the BSS logger, you can remove R136 and Place R135.
