IWR1642BOOST: Using the IWR1642 on a raspberry Pi 2 with Navio2 embedded

Part Number: IWR1642BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: IWR1642,

Beginner in this here, but what I'm trying to do is to use this iwr1642 as an object detector for my drone which is controlled by a Navio2 on Raspberry Pi2. My question is if it is possible for this configuration or? If yes, may I know how I should do it? Thanks

  • Hello Patrick,

You would need to check with the manufacturer of the Navio2 to find out what kind of information it requires for object avoidance.

As far as the IWR1642, the mmWave SDK mmw (out-of-box) demo can output detected object data. The demo is described in the mmWave SDK user guide. The SDK is available from the following link. Please use the table on the page to select the version that is compatible with your IWR1642BOOST EVM.

The following thread may also be useful for understanding how to configure the mmWave sensor from Linux and read the output data.
