IWR1642: How use the IWR1642 to identity the objects in 200 meters range.

I want to use the IWR1642 in my project to identity the object in 200 meters range. Can the IWR1642 boost be used in this scene? If not, How can we develop the new on-board rodar, Where we can get the guide document form the TI.

Through testing in real environment, It didn't satisfy , we cann't to identify object in range, Can someone give me some suggection ? Thanks a lot

Thanks for your repaly.

We use IWR1642 module in rail transit scene, when there is a man appear before the train in 200 metres, we want the module can decide and alert.

Hi David,

The ability to detect an object depends on the object's Radar Cross Section (RCS) which is basically the amount of Radar energy that the object reflects back to the sensor. The Radar antenna design also directly affects the range and field-of-view of the Radar.

Please see the mmWave Antenna Database on the TI Resource Explorer at the following link for a description of the antennas on the TI EVMs and how far they can see people or cars. A different antenna design may give more range at the cost of field-of-view.
