AWR1243: Can we burn BSS/MSS firmware in Qflash then verify it using radar studio?

Part Number: AWR1243
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MMWAVE-DFP

Hi team,

Can we burn BSS/MSS firmware in QSPI flash then using SPI connected in radar studio to verify it?

Customer is developed their AWR1243 platform, but he didn't want to load firmware using SPI/UART everytime when boot up. But when I burn firmware in QSPI flash, then i can not RF power up succeed using radar studio?

Did I missing anything?

Thanks for your help.

Regards,

Wesley

  • Hello Wesley,
What is the Silicon version of the AWR1243 customer is using?
You can flash BSS/MSS firmware to QSPI flash. If they are using ES1.0 or ES2.0 then they need to flash MSS(masterss\xwr12xx_masterss.bin), BSS (radarSS\xwr12xx_xwr14xx_radarss.bin) and MemSwap (masterss\xwr12xx_memswap.bin) files which are available in the mmWave-DFP\firmware directory.
After flashing to device, you need to switch to SOP-4 mode and in this mode skip connecting to RS232 and jump to SPI-connect and Rf-Power-up button click.

RadarSudio will show up ROM and firmware version when you connect SPI to the device via RadarStudio GUI, with this version you can confirm that device is booted up with flashed firmware.
