IWR1642BOOST: Is it possible to do something similar with IWR1642 boost?

Part Number: IWR1642BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: IWR1443BOOST, , IWR1443, IWR1642

Hi,

I came across this video. I wanted to know whether I can do something similar with my IWR1642BOOST(2Tx,4Rx):  How is IWR1443BOOST(3Tx, 4Rx) different?

  • Hello Akash,

Both devices have an ARM Cortex R4F core. The IWR1642 also has a built-in DSP core for more advanced signal processing but only two TX antennas which allow the device to produce 2D (X,Y) information. The IWR1443 has an FFT hardware accelerator which is not as flexible as a DSP core but the device has three TX antennas which allow it to produce 3D (X,Y,Z) information.

The Autonomous Robotics with ROS for mmWave demo shown in the video can be found in the Industrial Toolbox on the TI Resource Explorer at the following link.
    dev.ti.com/.../

Since we use the elevation (Z-axis) information in the demo (in addition to the X,Y information) for mapping and navigation the demo only supports the IWR1443.

Please reply if you have more questions or mark the thread as answered otherwise.
