IWR1642BOOST: Configuration

Part Number: IWR1642BOOST

Hi, I have a small problem with IWR1642BOOST.

All works fine untill I try to change configuration, I mean when I stop the process and change the configuration it gives me a lots of errors... I have to restart the demoboard, reconfigure it and then it works again... Is there another way to change the config? Is there a way to avoid this issue?

Thanks!

Alessandro

  • Hi Alessandro,

For all labs involving the IWR1642BOOST you'll have to reload the Chirp Configuration (.cfg) file over the CLI although this is what enables users to easily configure the parameters for their particular application.

If you post a screenshot of what kind of errors you are receiving we can discuss this issue further.

  • Hi Akash

    thanks for the answer.

I tried to follow the manual ("mmwave_sdk_user_guide.pdf) at page 27,

First of all I stop the sensor - sensorStop

    then I flush - flushCfg

    then I rewrite the config

and in the end - sensorStart (I tried "sensorStart 1" also but I got the same results...)

after each comand the answer is "Done" (I'm sending the commands throuh serial port)

When I give the "SensorStart" it doesn't restart...

If I retry to give the config. it answer "Error-1"

    Thanks

  • Hi Alessandro,

I'd recommend following the steps in this user guide instead: dev.ti.com/.../

  • Ok probably there was a missunderstanding (sorry it's my fault, my english is not so good!). I'm able to configure the demoboard but the problem is when I try to change the config without restarting it. I think the IWR16XX have a little bug in the code because when I try to reprogram it, it only works by resetting the card (disconnecting and reconnecting the power of the board).
    Thank in advance.

  • Hi Alessandro,

Instead of disconnecting power you can simply press the reset button (labeled NRST) on your IWR1642BOOST.

  • Hi Akash,
ok I know that I can press the reset button but I mounted the IWR1642BOOST 4 mt high and once I start it with a configuration and I need to change the config (since it's quite annoying climb a ladder each time) I would like to change it trhough the serial comunication (port) via software but it doesn't work (I try to follow your manual but the IWR1642BOOST gives me the ERROR 1 I told in previous post). I would like to know if you have another method to change configuration (whith the serial comunication) without resetting the board.
    Cheers

  • Hi Alessandro,

Unfortunately there isn't although I'd recommend using an external power switch if the EVM is far away from your PC.
