HDC2010: Questions

Part Number: HDC2010

HDC support team,

Could you please support customer questions?

Q1

There is a Heater function as dew condensation countermeasure, but how long will it become possible to measure the temperature and humidity after turning on / off the Heater function?

Q2

Please let me know if there are things that can be devised with ambient environment, mounting pattern etc. to improve the measurement accuracy of temperature and humidity.

Q3

It was a measurement result of + 4% with respect to the humidity of the chamber, so it slightly exceeds 3%.

Can you teach the precision measurement environment at your side? "

Q4

Please tell me the difference between Conversion-time and Response-time.

Q5

Is there time regulation from power on to communication access? Since I think that there is temperature and humidity acquisition, computation time, etc., I want to know how long it has to wait since I turned on the power supply.

Q6

7.3.5 INTERRUPT MODE Please give detailed function explanation about INTERRUPT MODE.

Q7

Although there is description of SLEEP MODE, please tell us the functional differences that can be achieved with SLEEP MODE and normal MODE.

Q8

Please tell me the difference between power OFF → power ON → communication access and SLEEP MODE transition → normal MODE → communication access. (Software setting, data can/can not be held, etc)

Q9

I think that it conforms to the I2C bus standard, but please tell me about bus reset specification at startup.

Thanks

Muk

  • Hi Yusuke-san,

Q4: Conversion time is the duration of the measurement. This is when the device, its specialized ADC and analog-front-end, are active. The latest result can be retrieved from the device after Conversion Time has elapsed.
Response time is a functional test. The device is rapidly transitioned from one temperature/humidity to another, and the output is monitored until it settles at the final value. For this reason, you would expect to see several Conversion Time constants within a Response Time, but it depends greatly on the parameters of the test.

Q5: You can communicate with the device as soon as power has settled. The device powers-on in an idle state where it takes no measurements (conversions.) After initiating a conversion, you will have to wait conversion time before reading the result.

Our HDC expert will get back to you shortly regarding your other questions.

    Thanks,
    Ren
  • Q1

There is a Heater function as dew condensation countermeasure, but how long will it become possible to measure the temperature and humidity after turning on / off the Heater function?

[MS: The heater will affect RH measurements.  The heater should only be used to remove or prevent condensation.  In the case that the heater is used, only use briefly as the temperature of the sensor will need to climb back to ambient temperature before reporting correct results.

    Q2

Please let me know if there are things that can be devised with ambient environment, mounting pattern etc. to improve the measurement accuracy of temperature and humidity.

This information is provided in application notes, which I've linked below.

    Q3

It was a measurement result of + 4% with respect to the humidity of the chamber, so it slightly exceeds 3%.

Can you teach the precision measurement environment at your side? "

[MS] To obtain accurate measurements a good reference must be used during test, we use a chilled mirror reference in our characterization studies.

    Q6

7.3.5 INTERRUPT MODE Please give detailed function explanation about INTERRUPT MODE.

[MS]  This information is found in our datasheet.

    Q7

Although there is description of SLEEP MODE, please tell us the functional differences that can be achieved with SLEEP MODE and normal MODE.

[MS] Sleep mode is the elapsed period of no I2C communication.  Once communication occurs, the device is brought from sleep mode to communicate.

    Q8

Please tell me the difference between power OFF → power ON → communication access and SLEEP MODE transition → normal MODE → communication access. (Software setting, data can/can not be held, etc)

[MS] The device automatically enters sleep mode upon power up. If the device receives any I2C communication the device is brought out of this mode.

    Q9

I think that it conforms to the I2C bus standard, but please tell me about bus reset specification at startup.

[MS] I'm not to sure of this question, can you elaborate?
