AWR1243BOOST: COM Port Can't Connect: AWR1243BOOST

Part Number: AWR1243BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UNIFLASH, AWR1243, AWR1642, MMWAVE-STUDIO

I can't connect to the com port while trying to flash AWR1243 using Uniflash. I can connect to COM3 using Tera Term so com port connectivity seems OK. After trying to connect using Uniflash I cannot connect using TeraTerm unless I power cycle the AWR1243 so it seems the FTDI chip is hung (maybe).

  • Hi Duncan,
Did you put jumpers on SOP-0 and SOP-2 of AWR1243EVM before running UniFlash?
In first snapshot Uniflash is failed as it's trying to connect COM1 which is invalid one. Please correct COM port in Uniflash setting.
    Please follow these steps-
    1. Connect jumpers on SOP-0 and SOP-2 of EVM.
    2. Power cycle the EVM and connect USB to PC.
    3. Start Uniflash and setup AWR1642 device and 'Application/User UART' COM port.
    4. Click on Load image after selecting the BSS and MSS binary from DFP installation (firmware directory).
    5. Post flashing, remove jumper from SOP-2 location of EVM and power cycle/reset.
    6. Start working with SPI connection from mmWave-Studio.

Same information is available in mmWave-Studio user guide.

  • Hi Jitendra,

Connecting jumper SOP-2 and power cycling the board fixed the problem. Thanks for you help.
