TDC7201-ZAX-EVM: Not able to measure the 19 microsecond delay of the two pulses, although the two pulses look right on oscilloscope

Part Number: TDC7201-ZAX-EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TDC7201

Hi,

In regards to this question, did you notice any specific point when the rise time of your pulse was fast enough so you didn't get errors? Was it 2ns?Just below 1ns (what the datasheet specifies as the maximum rise time)? Also, when you weren't able to measure the TOF, what weren't you able to see? Were certain register values garbage? Or did some reset themselves?

Thanks,

Logan

  • Logan,

Per the Datasheet of TDC7201 the Maximum rise, fall time for START, STOP signals (20% to 80%) is a typical value of 1ns.

We did check in our lab for a rise/fall time upto 2ns and we did not see any difference in the functionality of the device and we were able to measure the TOF without any issues. The device should definitely work at rise/fall times <1ns as well..
