Compiler/IWR1642BOOST: Is it possible to implement beamforming algorithms to determine angle of arrival?

Hi,

In the out-of-box demo of IWR1642, it use FFT algorithm to determine angle of arrival. Is it possible to implement beamforming algorithms such as MVDR (Minimum Variance Distortionless Response) or MUSIC (Multiple Signal Classification) algorithms instead of using FFT?

I want to check if we can use the DSP subsystem to do this or not. Can you help me to check whether the device has enough processing capability or not?

If it is possible to implement beamforming algorithms in IWR1642, can you suggest how to do it?

Please see the People Counting and Tracking Reference Design and associated People Counting lab as an example that uses the MVDR algorithm implemented on the DSP in IWR1642.

For the People Counting lab, which files should I modify if I want to use MUSIC algorithm rather than MVDR algorithm?

Hi Jiadi,

If you downloaded the People Counting lab the source files for the MVDR/Capon Beamformer are in C:\ti\mmwave_industrial_toolbox_2_5_2\labs\lab0011-pplcount\lab0011_pplcount_pjt\radarDemo\modules\DoA\CaponBF.

Please see the main doc on the Reference Design page for a description of the dataflow in the code.
