PGA970: Wire break detection

Hello,

I am thinking about how to detect wire broken(The wire connects between PGA970 installed device and LVDT) .

PGA970 do not have the detection function.

Is there any useful TI product providing that detection or useful application note?

Or I should implement a electric circuit using OP-amps or comparators ..etc ?

I would appreciate it if you could give me advice.

Hi Yoshioka-san,

Typically this kind of detection is done with a large pulldown resistor to ground and some comparators for undervoltage or overvoltage. You can see a block diagram of this kind of scheme from the diagnostics in the PGA900:

I don't have a specific application note discussing this, but hopefully this is enough to get you on the right track.
