MMWAVE-DEVPACK: Content of raw data

Hi All

My customer is confirmed using MMWAVE-DEVPACK + AWR1642BOOST-ODS.

They have a question about RAW data.

Is RAW data coming out of MMWAVE-DEVPACK the coordinate data (XYZ) and speed data ?

    Hi,

    Raw data is defined as data coming directly from the radar sensor ADC buffer. This data must be processed in order to obtain range, velocity and angle information.

    This processing is performed on the AWR1642BOOST-ODS EVM.

    The MMWAVE-DEVPACK board can be used together with TSW1400 capture card.

    Today, we have a better solution to capture raw data. This is the DCA1000 card

    Can Raw data be confirmed only with AWR1642BOOST-ODS EVM and MMWAVE-DEVPACK board ?
    Why is TSW1400 necessary ?

    No, raw ADC data cannot be captured or confirmed with just the AWR1642BOOST-ODS and mmWave-DevPack. The TSW1400 is the device that actually captures and stores the raw ADC data. The DevPack provides the connections that are required to enable this data capture.

    This information is spelled out in the User's Guide for the DevPack and can be found here: www.ti.com/.../swru506.pdf

    As Cesar has mentioned earlier, the recommended solution for raw ADC data capture would be the DCA1000 EVM.
