TMP102: When will the ADD0 Pin being sampled?

Part Number: TMP102
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMP112

Dear Sir or Madam,

We need to query temperatures at multiple places. Because there is a variable count of otherwise equal modules, we used to use the following technique to address individual sensors: An (otherwise hardwired) address pin is used in a manner quite similar to a chip-select signal in order to switch all modules except one to an unused I²C address. Only the one selected responds to the "valid" I²C address.

As we're considering to switch to sensor type TMP102/TMP112, I noticed that conncecting ADD0 to SDA or SCL are valid wirings, too. Therefore I suppose there is some kind of sampling of the state of the ADD0 pin by TMP102 in order to determine its own I²C address. I'm wondering when will the sampling takes place. E.g. only on power up, on General Call Reset/Write programmable part of slave address, after every Start Condition, on …?

Please be so kind to help me answering this question.

Regards, Peter
