PGA900: Forgoing OTP, Only use DEVRAM

Part Number: PGA900

Hello,

I have a customer that is interested in the PGA900, but is limited by the one write cycle of the OTP.

I noticed that the device has a block of memory the same size as the OTP called DEVRAM used to run the firmware while the device is still in development.

  1. Is there any reason why the part cannot run from the DEVRAM in a production environment?
  2. What difficulties might this cause?
  3. Is any functionality or features lost when running from DEVRAM?

Regards,
Ryan B.

  • Hi Ryan,

The DEVRAM is voltatile memory, and all of the information is lost when the device is powered down. It would have to be reprogrammed after powering up again. The PGA900 should not be operated in a production environment with the application firmware only programmed into DEVRAM.

There is no functionality loss when using the DEVRAM other than the ability to power cycle the device and maintain the programming.

    Regards,
