IWR1443: Unused TX/RX pins

Part Number: IWR1443

Hello,

There are several threads with conflicting information on what to do with unused TX/RX pins.

1) Thread 1: Ground both TX and RX pins

2) Thread 2: Leave TX/RX pins unconnected.

3) Thread 3: Leave TX open and ground RX with 50 ohm resistors.

Could you please clarify this issue.

Thanks,

Faiz

  • Hello,
The Tx and Rx connections are AC coupled.

    1) thread 1 - if the Tx does not have power activated to the unused Tx output, this would be OK, this is the best choice for Rx.

    2) thread 2 - this is fine for the Tx pins, it creates and antenna for the Rx pins - this creates an ESD challenge - least desireable but OK.

    3) thread 3 - this is the best for Tx, and acceptable for Rx, and alternative is to GND unused Rx.

All 3 methods can be used. Method 2 has the highest ESD susceptability.
