Dear Technical support Team,

I'd like to use multiple TMP117 (Max 64) on I2C bus.

Is it possible to implement following configuration?

MSP430 has two I2C port.

【Case1】

Datasheet shows below.

So I think following 64 TMP 117 configuration as slave is possible to use two TCA9548A , right?

■Total 64pcs

MSP430 I2C① →TCA9548A(8ch) → TMP117 x 4 pcs / ch x 8 ch (32pcs TMP117)

MSP430 I2C② →TCA9548A(8ch) → TMP117 x 4 pcs / ch x 8 ch (32pcs TMP117)

【Case②】

TMP117 has deivce id on register 0Fh and it shows x117(Hex).

Is it possible to use multiple TMP117 as slave on single I2C bus below without TCA9548A?

MSP430 I2C →TMP117 x 117 pcs

Yes, it should be possible to use the Case-1 with two TCA9548A. We have not tried this approach. but from your analysis it seems to be feasible.

I'll try case-1.

By the way, what is the function of "Device ID"?
Does it show just "117" to Master(MCU)?
I didn't know how to use it.

Hello TTD,

The function of the device ID is to help identify the part family. If there is say another part like 11XYZ in the future which supports some features not supported by TMP117, the device ID can be used by the MCU to make SW decisions.
