PGA460: PGA460-Q1 TO XDCR length

Part Number: PGA460

Hi team,

can you recommend PGA460-Q1 TO XDCR length?

  • Hi Bonnie,

The shorter the transducer cable length, the more robust ambient noise rejection will be. We typically recommend keeping the transducer as close to the driver and IC as possible, but many transducers will offer cable leads with lengths between 5cm to 20cm. A twisted pair cable will also improve ambient noise rejection. Typically, long cables will not be a problem for short to mid range applications.

Ultimately, I encourage you to experiment how well your system can maintain ultrasonic performance based on your required cable length.
The reason noise rejection is important for ultrasonic sensors is because the analog front end of the PGA460 applies between 32-90dB gain to the incoming signal. This means noise on the order of uV~mV can become amplified and degrade performance.
