A high current sensor ?

Dear TI Member,

Does anyone have an experience with high current sensor ?

What chip do we use ?

Any clues ?

Hello Riko,

Thanks for your inquiry on the forum. Most current sense amplifiers could be used in high current situations. The usual limitation for high current is actually the power shunt resistor you will need. In order to minimize power dissipation you will want an amplifier with the largest gain possible to decrease voltage drop across shunt resistor.

What current are you attempting to measure? Are you also needing voltage isolation? What error and bandwidth are your limitations?

Hi Javier,

I want to sense up to 50A on 250V AC,

I was thinking on using Current Transformer,

Any suggestion with a chip that can convert the value from the transformer to SPI or I2C or UART ?

Or 3.3V ADC

So it has internal signal conditioning for this purpose ?
