AWR1642BOOST-ODS: CAN transmit demo not working

Hello,

I am attempting to implement CAN transmit on the AWR1642BOOST-ODS ES2.0.

I have added and removed resistors are instructed in the user guide(mounted 0 ohms on R11 and R12 and removed R4, R6, R28 and R63).

I downloaded mmwave_automotive_toolbox_2_4_2 and followed the ObjectDataOverCAN_GettingStartedGuide in lab0005_object_data_over_can.

But it doesn't work.

I used an oscilloscope to measure the waveforms at both ends of CANH and CANL on the J3 interface. No change in voltage difference is generated.

I have been troubled for a long time, I have not found the problem.

Hi Xuzhe,
Do you have default AWR1642BOOST EVM with you then please try same experiment with that for CAN communication?
Meanwhile we'll check with hardware team for ODS EVM CAN interface.

Hi Jitendra,
I did the same test using the AWR1642BOOST EVM Rev.A and Rev.B and I did not receive the data. There is also no voltage change at the CAN interface of the oscilloscope test.

Hello Xuzhe,

You need to remove the "TIDA_1570" definition from the mss_main.c and the pre-defined symbols of the MSS project. You are compiling the code for a different variant of the EVM.

Please re-compile the code with above modification to use the demo on your EVM.

Hi Raghu,

In the latest demo, there is no definition of TIDA_1570.

I also tried using a demo with TIDA_1570 definition.Even if I remove the definition of TIDA_1570, it is equally useless.

Hello Xuzhe,

Do you see any errors in the CCS console?

Have you checked if the CAN communication works on your EVM after the ECO's using the CAN application in the MMWAVE-SDK ?

Hello Xuzhe,

If the Eco's are done right and you use the SDK version 2.0.0.04 then we should see the detected object data over CAN .
Only pre-requisite is that your configurations on the receiver side is has to be 1Mbps nominal bitrate and 5Mbps data bitrate and CANFD enabled.

Hello Raghu,

According to your suggestion, I debugged this demo in CCS. CCS console shows:

[Cortex_R4_0] xdc.runtime.Main: "platform/soc_xwr16xx_mss.c", line 873: assertion failure xdc.runtime.Error.raise: terminating execution

I tested CSNFD driver in the SDK. Both internal and external loopback tests have passed. When performing an external Tx test, the differential voltage can be measured at both ends of CANH and CANL.

Hello Xu Zhe,

This error is strange as you will see this error if there is a mismatch in the flashed "CCS_debug.bin" . Have you flashed the CCS_Debug.bin from the same version as the SDK you are using? Meaning, is your ccs_debug.bin from the SDK version 2.0.0.04?
