LM63: FAN did not have speed when Ta>75degC

Part Number: LM63

Dear team,

My customer is using LM63 for Fan driver. LM63 has speed output (Read Tach) initially when system power on. After 1hr, ambient temperature around LM63 increased to >75degC, LM63 did not have speed output. May I have your suggestion how to solve this? Thank you.

Regards,

Polly

  • Hello Polly,

There is no reason why the LM63 should stop functioning if Ta is around 75°C, but if Ta is above 85°C then we would expect some odd behavior. How is the customer measuring this temperature, and what is the reading from the Local Temperature Register (00h)?

Also, are you able to verify that the fan is still spinning above 75°C, even though the Tachometer is reading 0? Are there any other functions that they have noticed acting strangely above this temperature?

    Best Regards,

  • Hello Polly,

I am not sure what is being asked here. Is that the Tach input to the device is coming in as expected from the FAN, but the TACH register does not read the correct value. If that is the case then what is the TACH register reading?

Also can you please share the configuration of the LM63 registers?
