TDC1000-TDC7200EVM: Clamp-on measurement

Part Number: TDC1000-TDC7200EVM

Hi,

I use TDC1000-TDC7200EVM with two 1MHz clamp-on transducer mounted side by side on a 18mm copper pipe to measure water flow. I get a good signal on comp-in but when I try to get the differential time of flight, even when there is a flow, there is no difference. My first thought is that the echo I get is the sound transmit by the copper pipe itself. Is it possible ? Have you an idea how to prevent/filter this ?

Thank you for your suggestions

  • Basile,

Yes, you could get reflections from the copper pipe in clamp on transducers. Please check for the transducers signals without water in pipe & check the timing in which you receive any reflections. We may have to find these reflections and ignore them in our calculations.
