OPT3001: Default configuration?

Part Number: OPT3001

Hi all,

Is OPT3001 preset in a specific configuration?

I would like to test general functionality, but have little experience with I2C.

Ideally, I would like to probe the INT line and see if it is pulled low by the presence of light. That would suffice for a general circuit card functionality test.

If the configuration of the chip cannot be guaranteed, then I will go the software route.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Eric

  • Hi Eric,

What do you mean by software route?

If you check the OPT3001 datasheet, the configuration register default value is C810, which means that the device powers up in shutdown mode. This means that you will need to configure the device over I2C by writing to this register to start it collecting data. Have you looked into our EVM? This will work out of the box and comes with software to configure the device through a graphical interface.

    Best,

    Alex
