PGA300EVM-034: PGA300 EVM GUI startup problem

Part Number: PGA300EVM-034

I am trying to use the PGA300 EVM with its GUI software. However, whenever I try to launch the software, it displays the TI PGA300 EVM splash screen with "Initializing..." in the bottom left corner and then remains there. If I mouse over it, the working symbol appears. The only way to close the splash screen is through the task manager.

I followed the instructions and used default settings for all installations. I have made sure that I have the correct LabView Run-Time engine installed and restarted my computer prior to opening the GUI. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, and running it with administrator permissions in all of the relevant compatibility mode choices. I also made sure that it was not being blocked by my firewall or other security software. I am still unable to get past this splash screen.

I am attempting this on a Windows 10 computer, 64-bit, 8 GB of RAM, with an Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3550 CPU @ 3.30 Ghz, which meets the minimum system requirements outlined in the User's Manual.

Please let me know if you need any other information in order to help me resolve this problem. Just to remove any doubt, this is not a matter of impatience, as I tried opening the software before leaving work yesterday and it was still at the same splash screen when I came in this morning.

  • Hi Nathaniel,

Can you please try downloading and running the PGA900 or PGA305 GUI to see if one of those will work? They are based on the same source code, so if one of those works, there may be something wrong with the installation file itself.

Please let me know what you find.

    Regards,
  • Hi Scott,

I will try this when I get into work tomorrow. I was able to get it to work fine on an old 32-bit machine, same installation procedure, no problems encountered at all. However, I only did this as a test, because I will no longer have that PC after next week. So I had given it another go within a 32-bit virtual machine, but I ran into the same problem.

I will get back to you tomorrow to let you know if either of the other GUI programs work.

    Thanks
    -Nate
  • Scott,

I am encountering the same problem with the  PGA900 GUI. I can try the PGA305 GUI as well but I don't expect any different results.
