HDC2010: Heater Function

Part Number: HDC2010

Hello Support Team,

I am also useing right now 3 HDC2010 outside in a Housing, which allows a air circulation, but it is IP65.

I have a Problem with the Humidity. So we have at this time between 85% to 97% humidity. The Sensor sends me nearly all the time 99.9% humidity and sometimes it shut down for some hours.
The problem should be the dust and condensation.

What would be the best way to handle with this problem?

Should i start the Heater?

I have read in the forum, that i have to turn on the Heater as long as i do not receive the estimate value. But how do i know whats the erstimate value?

Thank you very much!

  • Hi Sinisa,
You are exposing the humidity sensor to higher levels of humidity. What is the temperature at that point?
As can be seen in the page 5 of the HDC2010 Data sheet, the relative humidity is guaranteed under certain conditions, please keep attention to foot note (6) captured below:
"Limits apply over the humidity operating range 20 to 80% RH (non-condensing) from 0 to 60°C"

It's possible that the material you are using to protect the sensor from condensation, moisture may not be working.
As long as your ambient temperature is not exceeding 80C you can enable the heater for few hours (4-5) and keep measuring RH during that time. When the reading matches the actual ambient RH condition (within the expected accuracy error) the condensation is gone.

Please let us know the results of the experiments.

    Regards,
    Jose
