PGA450-Q1: DEVRAM programming error on PGA450Q1 EVM-S

Part Number: PGA450-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PGA460-Q1

Hi Akeem,

some times ago you wrote me that the PGA450 IC could be erased by UV. It's correct?

Can you suggest me a model of UV eraser?

Thanks,

Michele

  • Hi Michele,

Unfortunately, I have no personal experience on UV erasing the OTP memory of the PGA450-Q1. Keep in mind that this process requires the IC's top package be decapped / removed, such that the IC's die can be directly exposed to the UV light. This means you are permanently damaging the IC package. The idea of exposing the die can lead to other problems/risks, so erasing the OTP by UV is typically reserved for debug and failure analysis. There are several UV erasers available online at different sizes and features. I cannot recommend a specific model.

If you are seeking to erase the OTP memory of several units, there is no simple workaround, and obtaining new replacement units may be the safer alternative. For your future ultrasonic projects, may I suggest the PGA460-Q1 device, which does not rely on OTP, and instead exclusively reprogrammable EEPROM.
  • Thanks for the suggestion.
