IWR1642BOOST: Possible bug: after a long time (~2 days) of running, only 1 of the 20 target IDs may be assigned, regardless of number of objects in FOV

Part Number: IWR1642BOOST

We aim use the IWR1642BOOST to count people in a variety of environments over long periods of time and are simultaneously testing a number of these EVMs. The EVMs are flashed with the people counting quick start firmware from the most recent version of mmwave industrial toolbox (3.1.0).

We have noticed on one of our EVMs that, after 2 days of continuous operation, some target IDs start being assigned more frequently than others and after 5-6 days only one, ID 16, is assigned, despite multiple people in the field of view. We haven't looked deeply into the source code so cannot definitively claim it is a bug, but we were wondering if this issue is known and if there is or will be a solution?

Thanks for your help.

Alistair

Correction: we are using firmware from toolbox version 2.5.2

  • Hello Alistair,

We will start looking into the issue described. Given the long test duration nature of this issue and multiple engineers that can support the People Counting demo being out during next week due to the Thanksgiving holiday in the U.S. it may take until sometime during the following week (starting Nov 26) before we have results to share. Thank you for your understanding.

    Regards,
    John

    Hello Alistair,

Would you happen to have the fhist files for the malfunctioning cases?

Generally, new targets are assigned an available TID starting from 1. In the case where you are only seeing the TID 16 assigned are there other tracked objects?

    Hello Alistair,

Do you have more information to provide or are you still experiencing this issue?
I have not been able to replicate what you have observed.
