DCA1000EVM: Ethernet cable can't connect DCA100EVM

I have a AWR1642EVM ES:1 and DCA1000EVM. The mmwaveStudio I used is 1.0. But when I click "setupDCA1000" button in mmwaveStudio and click "connect reset and" button, the FPFA Version is still 0.0.0.0 and the output window shows "Ethernet Cable is disconnected Please check.....!!!". I think i connected everything correctly and switchs in the DCA1000EVM are put on the right position.I have tried reflashing the DCA1000EVM but it still show the same error. So what can i do?

Hi,

Can you confirm that you have configured the ethernet interface on the host PC to use a static IP address of 192.168.33.30 as in the figure below?

I have same problem. I changed IP adress to 192.168.33.30 , but bothing changed. What's going on??

Hi,

Could you set the switches on DCA1000 as per attached snapshot and then try the same experiment.

Apart from this setting, we have seen in many cases the Ethernet connection fails due to the firewall of PC. You need to make sure the ports used (4096 and 4098) are not clocked by some firewall. This is the most common cause of failure we have seen.

Thank you. I closed win7‘s firewall and changed the switch ,but it still doesn't work. I captured the package through Wireshark, and there's no ARP package related to ip address 192.168.33.180.

Hi Zhuifeng,

Can you please confirm which LEDs are glowing on the DCA1000 board when it is powered up? If possible, could you please include another photo showing this? Also, what is the status of the LEDs on the ethernet connector on the DCA1000 as well as on the host PC?

Also, can you confirm the rating of the power supply that is being used?

Thanks for advice. I can't see leds on the host PC because of obstruction. And the power supply is 5V2A.

Also can you ping 192.168.33.180? In my computer it shows "Destination host Unreachable".

Hi,

On the DCA1000, a few seconds after power up some of the RED LEDs should turn off. Can you check and confirm if this is the case. If possible, a photo showing the status about 10 seconds after power up will help.

The DCA1000 will not respond to ping messages. This is expected.

Thanks for your patience. In my DCA1000, all leds turn off a few seconds after power up excpet "5V_LED" and "FPGA_DONE_LED" .

It looks like the hardware is behaving correctly. Is it possible for you to try using another host PC?

Also, if that doesn't work, could you confirm if reflashing the FPGA binary helps?

The bit file for the FPGA is released as part of mmWave Studio 2.0 and is available here after installation:
C:\ti\mmwave_studio_02_00_00_02\mmWaveStudio\DCA1000FPGA

mmWave Studio 2.0.0.2 can be downloaded from here:

Hi Zhuifeng,

We also note that the Orange LED on the ethernet connector should glow when a connection is established. You mentioned earlier that you only have a steady green LED. Can you confirm this?

Hi Zhuifeng,

One other thing to check: could you confirm that you have checked with the USER_SW1 switch set in to the left as in the second figure? Your first photo showed all three USER_SW switches set to the right.

USER_SW1 should be on the left side to ensure correct behavior.

Thank you very much. I found the reason. Because the Ethernet adapter of my PC is "Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller ", when i use another host PC of which Ethernet adapter is "Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller" , DCA1000 works fine. So i think maybe DCA1000 doesn't support Fast Ethernet.
