hi, I'm looking for a chirp for a ceiling mount application for monitoring if people are at there desks does such a chirp exist or is it even possible.

It is possible to detect people from a top down perspective. While the chirp would have an effect on the sensing results, in a top down application you would need to consider the antenna configuration and its FOV.
The IWR1642BOOST has 4 RX and 2TX antennas, therefore only a 2D point cloud is possible (no resolution in the elevation plane). This means that when you are mounted top down you would have no ability to resolve in one of the two planar axes (x or y).
Using an IWR1443 or IWR6843, which have 4RX and 3TX antennas, would enable a 3D point cloud and be more appropriate in a top down mounting. Note though that the FOV is limited in the elevation plane so your effective sensing area would be more oval or football shaped than circular.
