AWR1642BOOST: HeatMap data(detMatrix) - Range-Doppler Power Value

Part Number: AWR1642BOOST

Hi,

I dumped R-V HeatMap data and found that the resulting one has a line-shaped noise.

I set PROFILE_SRR_START_FREQ_GHZ as 79G.  Please refer to the following figure(X label is Range Index, Y label is Doppler Index)

Figure 1 : 79G

However, when I set PROFILE_SRR_START_FREQ_GHZ to 77G, 78G and 80G, those results look normal.

Please refer to Figure 2-4 (X label is Range Index, Y label is Doppler Index)

Figure 2 : 77G

Figure 3 : 78G

Figure 4 : 80G

This thing has been bothering me for a long time. Do you have any suggestion for profile setting or possible causes for this problem.

Thank in advanced.

Best Regards,

Kevin Chan

  • Hi Kevin,

This is a known Issue as mentioned in the device Errata (ANA#08).

Please avoid 79.2Ghz Frequency during chirp or Have large slope as a workaround.

  • Hi Kaushal,

Thank you very much for this information. It helps me a lot.
I read this document you mentioned, and found issue ANA#08. But I am not sure what exactly will happen when I set settings as ANA#08.
Could you give me the ANA#08 settings so that I could reproduce and where can I observe doppler spur?
Moreover, could you explain why this nonlinearity of the synthesizer causes doppler spur when crossing 79.2 GHz?

    Best Regards,

    Kevin
