CCS/AWR1642BOOST: AWR1642: PWM Programming

Part Number: AWR1642BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1642, , HALCOGEN

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hello TI community,

For my project I'm using AWR1642 sensor device. I have purchased AWR1642BOOST EVM for application testing.

I am very new to this EVM board. I went through many of its user guides and application manuals. I also tested the demo code for obstacle detection which is available in SDK 2.1 using mmwave demo visualizer. I went through the training videos posted by TI too.

But, for my application i need program inbuilt ARM cortex R4F to use PWM modules for driving external LED circuits.

so, at the start i'm planning to use only one PWM for dimming the external LED.

i have search a lot for how to program inbuilt PWM module of AWR1642. But, i failed to find any data on PWM Coding.

i just want to know how can i start programming on chip PWM for dimming external LED.

Hope someone can look into the problem and revert back so that I can start to work on board more efficiently.

Thank You.

  • Hi Sonal,

Though PWM peripheral is present on the AWR1642 but the driver is not present in the SDK 2.1.

For LEDs, can you use GPIOs to control ON/OFF state.

    Regards,
    Kaushal
  • Hello Sir,

Actually, I have selected this AWR1642 device because it has three inbuilt PWM module which is mandatory for my application, i can not use GPIO's because i want to dim the external LEDs not to just on OR off .

so, when will be PWM drivers can release, ...if not then can you suggest any other option to dim external LEDs using AWR1642 device. Otherwise i need to use external micro controller along with AWR1642 device which is not feasible for my application.

    Regards,
    Sonal Chavhan.
  • Hello Sonal,
As an alternative , would you be able to use the drivers from the Halcogen hardware abstraction layer device drivers for Hercules™ microcontrollers?
The EPWM IP in the Hercules and the AWR1642 are same and you should be able to generate the pwm drivers for this platform. Only the register base-address and the interrupt lines would differ.

    Thanks,
    Raghu
  • Hi Raghu,
The Halcogen's download link can not access. Could you please share an avaible link?
    Thanks.
