Hello,

The Zone Occupancy Detection - 14xx   lab example demo shown here can detect multiple people in different virtual zones created in the field of view of one sensor.

    Hello,

Yes it is possible to simultaneously detect multiple people in different zones within the 120deg (horizontal) and 30deg (elevation) field of view of the EVM.

Are you having any issues using the sensor for this purpose?

  • I am confused between IWR1642 and people counting demo vs IWR 1443 zone occupancy demo.

Basically, I want to locate (distance with respect to a fixpoint) and count people in the virtual zone created in the field of view of the sensor.

so I am trying to understand which kit will be suitable for my application.

    Hello,

If you are wanting to count and track people as demonstrated in the people counting demo you will need a device with an onboard DSP.
The two EVMS that can run a version of people counting and tracking are either the IWR1642 (77GHz) or IWR6843 (60GHz). Note that a critical factor to drive the decision between the two boards is the frequency band each operates in - you should select the one appropriate for your region and applications.
