IWR6843: detection angle

Part Number: IWR6843

Thank you for the provided info and links.

What is the angle in degree the sensor as such can be used to detect goods on a shelf. Or in other words, when i want to detect product standing in line for 50 cm, which height i need to detect all products on this 50 cm lined up? I read somewhere 120 degree - but i am not sure about.

Thanks

  • Hi Juergen,

Here are the FOV (Field of View) specs for the IWR6843 ISK (Standard Antenna Plug-in Module):

    Azimuth i.e. Horizontal FOV: 110 degrees (i.e. +/- 55 degrees)

    Elevation i.e. Vertical FOV: 40 degrees (i.e. +/- 20 degrees)

The above FOV is defined based on 6dB drop in the signal peak as compared to bore-sight or zero degrees. Note that the FOV is dependent upon the Antenna design and a different antenna design can have different FOV (narrower or wider). We also have an Antenna Database under mmWave Industrial Toolbox which is a repository of all the antenna designs put together by the TI mmWave Team.
