AWR1243BOOST: .

Part Number: AWR1243BOOST

Hello,

I work in a small startup team and we are developing a device for automotive environment. We would like to know a bit more about your mmWave radar dev. pack because it might be suitable for our idea http://www.ti.com/tool/mmwave-devpack?jktype=recommendedresults and i would be really greatful if you could help me on that. Does this dev pack suitable for on board tests?

Unfortunatelly i haven't found any information about the visual angle of the radar too. Also i am not sure about in what format we get the measurement results from the radar. Do we have to process an analog signal, or we get informations about objects (like relative position, speed etc).

I was unable to find information about the signal process time. What is the usual time delay between the real time event, and the radars detection time? Or is it more dependant on the chosen MCU?

Which TI MCU launchpad / dev board you recommend to use with the radar? I have experience with th Tiva-C series, could they be enough until the proof of concept state or its advised to use a “stronger” MCU.

  • Hi,

Could you please let us know more about your application and specifications, so we can guide you appropriately?

You could also take a look at our mmWave Sensors for Automotive Radar portfolio available here:

We have a training series here with the second series covering the different devices and offerings:

    Best Regards,
    Anand
  • Dear Anand!

I would use the radar on a vehicle to get informations about the other trafic members in road junctions especially the objects that are approaching from the sides. I would like to detect their size, and relative position. The fastest moving object that we would like to detect is another trafic member approaching from front. In this case the lawful maximum relative speed could be 180km/h (the speed limit outside of cities is 90km/h and if both vehicle travels with this speed towards each other). But the objects in front of us is not our main concern at the moment, but the ability to deal with them would be a nice reserve capability for later.  The view angel is important, to know that how large side area i could cover with the sensor.

  • Hello Boldi,

I would suggest you to refer to our "Traffic Monitoring " lab in the "TI Resource Explorer" . This lab shows  how TI single-chip millimeter-wave (mmWave) technology can be used for robust, long-range sensing in traffic monitoring and other applications. The advanced tracking feature in the lab enables multivehicle tracking across multiple lanes.

This lab also comes with source code that you can use for your prototying .

Let me know if this helps.

    Thanks,

    Raghu

  • Dear Raghu,

I checked that lab but unfortunatelly i haven’t found there those details what i wanted to get about this product. And i know that there aren’t accurate answers to my questions but it would be enough for us if we just know these datas about other developers experiences. We don’t need to know them exactly yet.
