IWR6843: IWR6843 for outdoor security

Part Number: IWR6843

One thing i find difficult is understanding the FCC limitations on the spectrum and when and where i can use those products.

One of the TI demonstrations are for long range people counting and i was wondering if that means the IWR6843 can be used as a security sensor in the US and EU.

  • Hello Dori,

The following thread contains high-level information about licensing including examples of standards/regulations from licensing bodies in the US and EU.

As each region of the world has its own licensing body, you would need to check with the local licensing authority in your region to confirm what regulations apply there for desired applications.

    Regards,
    John
  • Hi John,

That thread which I've seen before does not talk about the IWR6843 recommended uses and where i can use it at.
That's why i asked about a very specific use to make sure this is approved as one.
  • Hi Dori,

As the customer is responsible for making sure their product complies with all applicable regulations and laws for the desired region and regulations are very region-specific we are not able to confirm whether specific applications are allowed for specific regions. Please contact the relevant licensing body for the desired region to find out if your specific application is permitted and what rules (power levels, locations like indoor/outdoor, etc.) apply.

    Regards,
    John
