IWR1642BOOST: RangeProf[n] -- what does it mean?

Part Number: IWR1642BOOST

In the serial data, we see some terms like this:

RangeProf[0]:    091.787
    RangeProf[1]:    099.316
    RangeProf[2]:    097.093
    RangeProf[3]:    091.389
    RangeProf[4]:    086.496

What do they mean?

I asked a question and got the following answer...

"The values represent the signal strength/relative power for the given range bin index. For example, you would interpret RangeProf[4]: 086.496 as at the 4th range bin the relative power was 86.496 dB. This array of data is what comprises the Range Profile plot shown in the Demo Visualizer."

I would like to know what is this power relative to?

  • Hi Akash,

It is just to show the power of the received signal that is relative to the other range bins. Know the power at each range bin is how we construct the entire range profile which we then extrapolate from in order to find particular objects.

Let me know if you have more questions.

    Cheers,
    Akash
