TMP112: TMP112 calibration point

Part Number: TMP112

Can the TMP112 gain accuracy form a calibration point? The datasheet gives the peculiar wording "TMP112B Accuracy Without Calibration : – 0.5°C (Maximum) From 0°C to +65°C (1.8 V)". This seems to imply some calibration can improve the accuracy.

Also, rev note F states "Removed Calibrating for Improved Accuracy and Using the Slope Specifications With a 1-Point Calibration sections". Why was this removed?

  • Hi Peter,

We're able to achieve the +/-0.5C spec from the factory. If you have the means to calibrate each device, you should be able to remove some of the uncertainty of our production equipment and observe performance as shown in the Figure 3 Mean curve.

At the time of release, the team thought that customers might be interested in performing such calibration at one temperature. There was a large write-up in the applications section which described the over-temperature performance that could be expected if an offset was measured at one temperature. To accompany this, there was a slope specification that was used to calculate the accuracy.

I think this content was removed, because we found that it was not useful to customers.

    Thanks,
    Ren
