AWR1642: Is there any way to adjust RX gain dynamically?

Part Number: AWR1642

Hi,

When radar faces to a object with big RCS value, the normal configuration may cause RX saturation. Customer can use CQ2 to monitor if the RX is saturated or not. But when customer found the RX is saturated, how to adjust the RX gain immediately? I didn't find API to do it dynamically.

I knew that we can pre-set 4 profile with different RX gain, but customer has already used all 4 profiles in their case and they want to have a API to only adjust the RX gain dynamically. Re-configure profile and restart sensor will cause too much time.

Would you pls kindly help?

  • Hi Chris,

I'm afraid we do not support any way to achieve this right now. Right now, the only way is to stop frames and reconfigure the profile and start frames again.

    Best Regards,

  • Hi Chris,

Please note: you can reconfigure the chirps dynamically to a different profile if the new gain value is available in a different profile. You can use the rlSetDynChirpCfg() to achieve this.

If your customer is already using 4 profiles, and these profiles do not contain the new setting, then you will need to stop framing and reconfigure one of the profiles and start frames again.
