AWR1642BOOST: Do I need to use DCA100EVM to transmit data through ethernet port

Part Number: AWR1642BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1642, DCA1000EVM, MMWAVE-SDK

Hi, I am going to use AWR1642 BOOST for autonomous application research.

Data transmission to the host PC of car from radar would be done with ethernet communication.

Data could be an 1-D or 2-D FFT result or object X,Y data.

And I would use Demo file or SRR demo file for radar.

Is it possible to use UART to Ethernet converter for AWR1642 EVM board to transmit those data(FFT,Raw,object X,Y) to PC?

Or do i have to use DCA1000EVM for it?

And is there any parsing code or data transmit format for those data?

I would be appreciate if there is any answer for them

Thanks for reading

  • As AWR1642 doesn't have an ethernet interface on it, you need to use DCA1000 to send data from device to PC.
And mmw demo of mmWave-SDK provides an option to send user data over LVDS interface which further goes over DCA1000 to PC.

  • Thanks for fast reply!

You mean that i have to use DCA1000 to send data from device to PC via ethernet, right?

Could you let me know where to find option at mmw demo? I have mmWave-SDK 1.02 and 2.01

Additional question: Is there any application to make fusion of more than one AWR1642 for autonomous driving and velocity compromise using IMU data from Car?

    Thanks a lot
  • Hi,
Yes, you need to use DCA1000 to send data (user or raw adc data) over Ethernet from the device.
You should pick up the mmWave-SDK 2.01 if you are using AWR1642 ES2.0 version (all recent AWR1642 EVM on TI store are ES2.0 version)

Currently we don't have any application for fusion of more than one AWR1642 device.
