IWR1443BOOST: PGood check failed of level sense DEMO

Part Number: IWR1443BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: IWR1443

We have a board which built with ES3 chip (the board has been modified according to Updated_level_sensing_gsg), but we use TX1 and RX4 antenna, we build level sense demo and use the generated bin file flash IWR1443 board successful. When this board connect with MSP432 board, it give error message "PGood check failed", does this mean PGOOD signal (J6 pin14) or PMIC_EN failed J6, pin16). I did see the current keep change on the power supply. Anyone know what is wrong?

Thanks,

  • Hi Feng,

The PGood check performs a read on the PGOOD signal, so this is what it should be. I haven't heard of this error happening before so my first guess would be that something went wrong during board modification. Does the MSP432 continue with I2C initialization of the PMIC for use in PFM mode?

Can you confirm you've added the R102 (PMIC_EN) resistor during modification? It might be helpful to include a high res picture of each side of your board.

    Cheers,
    Akash
  • Hi Akash,
Yes, MSP432 continue with I2C initialization after PGOOD failed and "wait for power Good" forever. We do have R102 and R164 installed. Since we use different connector, the pins connected to MSP432 are: GPIO_0 connect to P4.6, GPIO_1 connect to P5.7, PMIC_EN connect to P4.7, IR_SPICLK1 connect to P1.5, IR_MOSI1 connect to P1.6, AR_MISO1 connect to P1.7, PGood connect to P4.5, AR_NRST connect to P5.6, IWR1443 GND to MSP432 GND.
There is no any other connection. MSP432 5V and MSP432 3.3V not connected to IWR1443booat. The PMIC (LP87524J) is bought from digi-key, I assume it is programmed and can be used after installation.
I checked IWR1443 boards (after modification) with "high accuracy lab", it works (flashed with TI provided ES3 binary). I reflash the board with "level sense_demo", it failed PGood, I noticed the power supply current are 140mA during the power on. Do you know what could be wrong or missing?

    Thanks,
  • I also checked PMIC_EN 3.29V, but PGOOD 0V. Do you know why?
  • Hi Akash,
PGOOD signal is 3.313V, why it failed, what value it is suppose to be?
  • PGOOD signal measured from C55 and P4.5 are 3.313V, why "level sense DEMO" show PGOOD failed
  • Hi Akash,

I could get all the measurements, Power Good and the calibration success, but I still have PGOOD failed. Do you know why?

    Thanks,
