FDC1004: interfacing with PIC16F877a Microcontroller

Hi, 

I am measuring the capacitance using FDC1004QEVM. In the continuation of my development, I would like to interface a capacitance sensor with FDC1004. I know it is possible. But My question here is, Is it possible to interface with PIC16F877a because all the register in this microcontroller is only 8 bit but in FDC1004 it is 16bit. Kindly help me on this.
