IWR1443BOOST: I cant program IWR1443BOOST with any demo like High Accuracy Range Measurement by UniFlash

Hi,

I have just started to explore TI mmWave devices, so I just started working with AWR1642BOOST and IWR1443BOOST.

With AWR1642 I could run diffrent demos but with IWR1443BOOST I couldn't program any file on its flash memory.

For example when I try to program High Accuracy Range Measurement demo and files xwr12xx_xwr14xx_radarss.bin file in the \firmware\radarss folder

and xwr14xx_mmw_demo_mss.bin in the \packages\ti\demo\xwr14xx\mmw folder, I get following errors:

I have tried SDK 1.02 2.01 and 3 but stil it is like this.

Hi Mostafa,
Are you using IWR1443 ES3.0 silicon? If you are then you will only be able to use the labs for SDK demo, Zone Occupancy, and ROS demos. The other labs will be available for ES3.0 silicon in late January.

Hi Akash,

I couldn't find any sticker about ES3.0 or other on the devkit.

But there is a barcode with this number 5446100086.

Do you know how I can find what is the ES of my dev kit?

Hi Mostafa,

If you look at the bottom marking on your IWR1443 chip, if it says 964D then it is ES2.0, if it says 964FC (or FB) it is ES3.0.

Hi together,

I got a similar Problem with IWR1443BOOSTER EVM ES 3.0. I tried to flash the radarss and mss binaries for the Zone Occupancy Demo, as akash mentioned is working with ES 3.0. The flashing stopped with the foloowing message:

C:/ti/mmwave_industrial_toolbox_3_1_1/labs/lab0016_zone_occ_14xx/prebuilt_binaries/xwr12xx_xwr14xx_radarss.bin file indicates it is not a valid file to flash to IWR1443: 0xb55a03d1L

Hi Matti,

For ES3.0 the BSS (radarss) binary is already flashed in ROM. Thus the only image you'll need to flash is an MSS from the mmWave-SDK 2.1.

Hi Akash,

got again a very similar error if I just use the xwr14xx_mmw_demo_mss.bin File from the mmwave_industrial_toolbox_3_1_1. I do not understand where I can find the mss files in the mmWave-SDK LTS version. Is it a Problem, that I use REV A?

Hi Matti,

I don't believe files in the industrial toolbox have been updated yet. They will be updated very soon.

The mss binary is located in the location C:\ti\mmwave_sdk_02_01_00_04\packages\ti\demo\xwr14xx\mmw

For your reference, the binary files is about 148 KB.

Do not worry about Rev A vs Rev B.
