LDC1612EVM: LDC1612EVM Parallel Capacitance

Dear Sir,

I Have 1612EVM to test evaluation for my project.

I don't understand Parallel Capacitance of Sensor Filter bank for EVM GUI.

when Parallel capacitance value is change, sensor Inductance value is changed regardless of sensor capacitor of SENSOR Board.

what are the mean between the Sensor Capacitors of SENSOR Board and Parallel capacitance of GUI filter. It just input same value?

  • Hi Dexter,
    The EVM comes with a surface mount cap that's already soldered to the board. The value of the cap is 330pF and this is the value that you need to enter on to the GUI. If you need to change the resonant frequency, you can use : f sensor = 1/(2*pi*sqrt(L*C)). The sensor use a series inductor and a parallel capacitor to form the LC tank. If you need to change the inductance value, you need to redesign the coil (which is harder to do) but you can just change the capacitance value by soldering a different cap (easier to do).
