DRV5032: Is there a way to reduce the hysteresis level on the DRV5032

Part Number: DRV5032

Posting for my customer:

"For the DVR5032DU, From the tool on the web site / DRV5032 product page: the IC will activate once magnet gets 14.59mm away.

But it won’t release, until the magnet goes 24.80mm away.

How do I minimize this hysteresis window?

What techniques can I apply?"

Thanks.

  • Hello Mark,

Thank you for using the TI forum.

In general, the smaller the magnet you choose to use, the smaller travel distance will be required for hysteresis (also causing the magnet to need to be very close to the sensor). Here is an example of a very small weak magnet that only requires ≈3mm travel distance for the DU version:

On the other hand, if you need a specific tripping distance, then a smaller stronger grade magnet is better than a larger weaker grade magnet. In the two images below I chose a max-Bop of ≈15.5mm for the DU version. Note that the Smaller neodymium magnet has a smaller hysteresis travel distance than the larger ferrite magnet.

On another note, if you are fine changing the sensor, then a higher sensitivity  will also lower the hysteresis travel distance.  Note that in all of the images above, the DRV5032ZE has the smallest travel distance between max-Bop and min-Brp.
