IWR6843: 60Ghz Related Questions

Part Number: IWR6843

Hello team,

I do have a few questions related to 60Ghz solutions:

1. does TI has a plan to release a device that supports 57-64 GHz in the future?

2. could you please advise what could be the power consumption (in mW) when the use case is to detect a person if he sits on a char with a duty cycle of 1min?

3. Do you have any technical material about horns and lenses?

4. when the IWR6843AOP should be released and if you can share the dimensions of antennas?

5. if you have any plan to release a lower cost device with less TX and RX with AOP for simple application such as distance measurements?

Thanks in advance

Best regards,

Shai

  • Hello Shai,

For roadmap and future product discussion, please reach out to your local TI sales representative or directly to me @ aaginskiy@ti.com. We do not share our roadmap strategy or unreleased production information without an NDA.

For technical questions #2 and #3, our engineering team will respond shortly.

    Thanks,

  • Hi Shai,

    For questions 2 and 3,

    2) We have found that to boot the EVM then capture and process 1 frame of data will require about 200 mJ. Roughly 100 mJ to boot, and 100 mJ to capture a frame. Cost per frame can be brought down lower by using different chirps.

    3) We do not provide any technical documents on lens or antenna design.

    Regards,
    Justin
