TDC1000-TDC7200EVM: Can TDC1000-TDC7200EVM be used for flaw detection?

Part Number: TDC1000-TDC7200EVM

Hello, I have bought the TDC1000-TDC7200EVM and I would like to use it for Flaw detection in steel, does someone know if this is possible and where can I read more about this?

  • Leonardo,

This is an interesting application. We have not seen this kind of application on our device. Using Ultrasonic we can detect the difference in strength of the reflected signals from metal surfaces to check its its density is varied.
If possible for more easier mechanism we can place 2 transducers on either side of the metal & measure the TOF and the changes in that could help in plotting the flaw detection.
Also the TDC1000-TDC7200EVM can only support transducer drive voltage upto 5V, for the application that you have mention, you might need transducers with higher drive voltage and you may have to create a separate circuit of your own.
Yes, it is possible to use the TDC1000-TDC7200 device combination to detect the metal flaws.
