AWR1642: Internal operation for SOP(101) flash programming

Hi Champs,

I believe that the boot loader program which is kept in somewhere in AWR1642 is loaded to MSS and then it runs, after SOP is set 101 ((SOP mode 5) = flash) as programming mode and the deice is powered up.

Am I making sense?

Moreover, if the program is running in MSS, could it output the serial log file when any error occurs?
It would be useful feature to debug the problem when we face.

Hello Hitoshi,
Are you saying about any issue device is facing in SOP-5 (flashing) mode while flashing any image or in SOP-4 (functional) mode it's not able to load the application from sFlash to RAM?
Could you provide more detail of the issue you are facing?

MSS ROM dumps the debug log on AR_MSS_LOGGER pin which you can capture if required.

Hi Jitendra,
According to www.ti.com/lit/sprach9 Flash Variants Supported by the mmWave Sensor, it says that :

1.2.2 ROM-Assisted Download to the FLASH (Device Management Mode - SOP5)
The ROM-assisted download should work with all flash variants that allow for “Memory mapped mode”
and “Page program command (0x2)” with 1 dummy byte and 24-bit addressing.

When downloading the program, the ROM code is loaded to MSS and then MSS helps writing.
Am I making sense?

Hello Hitoshi San,
yes, MSS ROM only reads the data (metaImage) over UART and writes it to sFlash in SOP5 mode.
