PGA970: PGA970 - Use in avionics application

Part Number: PGA970

Hi team,

I am in need to monitor actuator positions through the use of LVDT interfaces in an avionics application.

I have looked into the PGA970 as a potential ‘one stop shop’ for a device that would deal with these LVDT interface needs.

A had a few questions that hopefully you can address for me please: -

1.     Do you happen to know of any use of this device in a similar application that already gained some level of design pedigree?

2.     Can you confirm that this part is currently being used elsewhere within flight safety critical application (i.e. to DO-254 DAL-A)?

3.     If you can provide confirmation to question 2 above, what is the standpoint regarding DAL-A certification?

As the device contains an integrated ARM core, there is the potential that this device would be classified as ‘complex’.

If this were to be the case, we would need a cert pack from yourselves (TI) in order to justify the use of the part.

This justification would not be required however if it can be proven that the device is fully analysable and testable.

  • Hello Carlos,

There has been interest in the PGA970 for this application in the past, although I do not know what has come of it. There is no existing certification pack for the PGA970 for the DAL-A certification.

If you do determine that the device is classified as "complex" please let us know, and we can discuss whether we are able to provide the certification that you require.

    Regards,
