FDC2214: What is the meaning of "sensor frequency" in FDC 2214 manual?

Hello

I`m reading your manual of FDC 2214.

I have a question about one thing.

In this manual, a word "sensor frequency" frequently appears.

I`m not sure this means "Frequency response of sensor"... is that right?

Hi DongWoo,
The inductance and the capacitance determines the sensor frequency following the equation: f sensor = 1/(2*pi*sqrt(L*C)). If you're using the FDC2214EVM, the EVM already comes with a LC tank , where L = 18uH and C = 33pF.

I want to ask you one thing lastly, please.

In normal FDC 2214 chip(not in 2214 EVM), is there no LC tank to determine the sensor frequency?

(than should I determine the frequency value according to my intention?)

Hi Dongwoo,
That's correct. If you are using FDC2214 IC, it does not come with an internal LC tank. You can make your own LC tank, by picking L and C values that will match close to your sensor frequency, where fsensor = 1/(2*pi*sqrt(L*C)).
