We want to use AWR1642 for long range approximately 200 metres

1. Can the range of 200 metres be achieved with present antenna array (2 transmit and 4 receive antennas).

2. Will the field of view change when the range is increased to 200 metres.

Hi,

With the AWR1642BOOST EVM, we were able to achieve 80m-120m car detection.

If you are trying to detect cars, you will not be able to achieve 200m with AWR1642 device.

For 150-160m detection you should be able to use the AWR1843 device

In azimuth ~+/- 50deg, in elevation ~+/- 20deg

Mount the sensor fownwards and measure how far from sensor to the ground/floor/large surface

I had posted a question seeking configuration for 150 and above range. If the limitation is upto 120 m for cars, can you please share the configuration for AWR1642BOOST? Also is there an evaluation module available from TI that has a range >= 200 mts?

Hi,

For AWR1642BOOST configuration for up to 120 m please see the SRR demo. It is available as a lab in the automotive toolbox in the TI Resource Explorer.

There is no evaluation module for range >=200m today.
